Hi. Thanks for stopping by. I'm Jessica Birch. I have my Ph.D. in American Studies from Purdue University, with my primary areas in Theory & Cultural Studies and Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies; my M.A. is in English from Indiana University South Bend.
Before I came to Bowling Green State University in fall 2016 to be an instructor in Women's, Gender, & Sexuality Studies and Ethnic Studies, I was a a lecturer at Case Western Reserve University in English/SAGES (CWRU's gen-ed sequence). Prior to that, I was adjunct faculty at Indiana University South Bend in English and Women's & Gender Studies, and also at Ivy Tech Community College Lafayette in English.
Welcome to my internet home. Much like my real-life home, it has a lot of photos in out of the way places, a bunch of references to authors I like, stacks of things from classes I've taught or am teaching, an implied obsessive dedication to music, and very little in the way of gratuitous decoration. Unlike my actual home, there is no cake here, for which I apologize. This is the problem with one-way communication: I have to have an audience rather than a dialogue. I'd far rather talk about about our ideas over coffee. Instead, all I can say is: Browse around. Check it out.
